Concept
MFP Jewellery-Wear concept expresses a subversive perspective towards fashion, where traditional jewellery and pop symbols are distorted and reinterpreted in their forms and meanings, to be conceived as amulets that convey inner strength and beauty.
Once worn, the jewellery pieces become energized and intimate, outweighing time, seasons and trends.
In this collection MFP analyses the symbol of the serpent (lat. serpetem) as it was known in Ancient Egypt and then reinvented in the Seventies. It is the symbol of temptation and fatal attraction to pleasure, otherworldliness, everlasting beauty and of how all things perish and decay. In MFP jewellery the serpent’s natural form is stylized in smooth geometric facets with hollowed enameled eyes and reformed into architectural rings, minimalist cuffs and chokers which are studded with real turquoise and gold pyramids. Flat triangles are used to create oversized earrings and multi-pendant metal and leather braces to wear on the legs ‘a la Theda Bara’. It is tribal, luxurious, mysterious and ethereal. Silk ropes are wrapped in chains and charms to create the new updated and summer version of MFP’s iconic ‘Tubular’. Light, feminine and glamorous at the same time it comes in a colour palette of black and gold, turquoise and rose gold or white and gun metal. Delicate necklaces composed of long, textured chains with a vintage feel are ended with serpent pendants, crosses and turquoise cabochons set in a serpent casing. They are worn as bolo ties or simply and lavishly knotted around the neck or waist. MFP’s signature ‘Ade ring’ is re-invented using letters and stone set pendants or engraved with words of peril. The collection includes a Limited Edition series of antique wooden letter presses customised creating magical pendants embellished with gold studs, stones and crosses. Raw quartz stones have been hand cut, filed and embossed with letters to use as pendants in pink, citrine or cloudy white. The quartz necklaces are held within rose petals in glass tubes along with a note on how to prepare MFP’s perfect love potion: Simply choose the initial of the one you love and add 1 medium glass of mineral water, 1 spoon of sugar, 1 spoon of honey and 9 petals from a red rose. Combine these ingredients, drink and he will love you forever…
