Gareth Pugh’s dark aesthetic and outlandish club-wear have earned him global recognition. The low-key designer, who makes a bold statement on the catwalk, has created a style that is now instantly recognisable. From dressing Kylie Minogue at the start of his career, to opening his first store in Hong Kong, to collaborating with MAC on his very own make-up line, Pugh has reached heights no one could have predicted.

 

Being compared to the likes of the late Alexander McQueen and the grande dame of fashion, Vivienne Westwood, has given his avant-garde vision industry approval. Fashion Photographer Nick Knight commented on Pugh’s creative abilities,

“Gareth follows in a line of people whose extreme personal visions take you to a different universe.”

The innovative designer, who came from humble beginnings in the northeast of England, has the unparalleled power to impress. And this week we’re merely paying homage to the man behind the bizarre mask.
