The mere thought of allowing our eyebrows to take control and morph into thick, heavy masses perched upon our foreheads can horrify the majority of us. But as we pluck, tweeze and bleach to within an inch of our lives, ensuring our perfectly-preened brows keep the right proportion, the catwalks ran amok with a burly brow that would make even the queen of the extreme eyebrow, Elizabeth Taylor, shudder.

S/S 12 will be the season of the brow that wows, pushing us all to our bushy limits. So do make sure to prepare yourself, as there isn’t much time left to perfect that boyish brow. As seen at Derek Lam, Victoria Beckham, L.A.M.B, Roksanda Ilincic, Louis Vuitton and Altuzarra, the brows were big, bold and back with a vengeance.
Eyebrows, throughout generations, have been as significant to the individual as their clothes have been to the era. Back in the 20s and 30s, the likes of Clara Bow and Greta Garbo were opting for thinly shaped eyebrows that were plucked into extreme arches. The 1950s brought about the ‘drawn on’ look and the 60s morphed into the ‘shaved off and drawn back on’ look. Fast-forward through the bushy 80s to the 90s, where Kate Moss was gracing the glossies with barely-there bleached out brows, rounding off the androgynous look that was synonymous with the decade, perfectly.
Even though the alien and slightly eerie ‘un-brow’ trend came back a few seasons ago, we’ve gone full circle and are in favour of a bit more of a fuller fluff. Leading the trend at the moment is Australian model, Bambi Northwood Blyth, who was also captured above by our illustrator Elise Pellican. Another famous full-browed face would have to be Harry Potter star, Emma Watson, who wiggles those brows to achieve ultimate impact on screen.
We’re currently jumping on the big brow bandwagon by growing out our thinly-shaped styles and throwing out our tubs of Jolene because we’re after one thing for summer and its a massive bushy brow. End of.
