The Dandy is predominantly a gentlemen associated with the early part of the 20th century. His appearance, above everything else, was his finest quality as he presented himself in a nonchalant fashion sporting the latest styles of the day. It was his quick wit and blasé demeanor however that ultimately gave him his charming allure. And it seems his style and carefully constructed character is becoming increasingly popular.

D is for Dandy by Sherri Colter
The Dandy’s classic style has found it’s way into the lives of young men everywhere once again; reassuring them that an air of self importance and a well-cut jacket is all one needs to survive. It seems by adopting a more traditional form of attire, keeping yourself clean-cut and care-free you can achieve the casual but irresistible appeal of the Dandy.
The A/W 11 catwalks were full of Dandy fashions, fuelling the look with structure and timeless shapes. Dolce and Gabbana injected a touch of glamour by adding flamboyant prints and maroon velvet to tailoring whilst Lanvin exemplified understated elegance through layers of staple garments in muted tones.
Just as the Dandy way of life resurfaces and men begin opting for quality over quantity and physical distinction over distraction, its evident that it’s a way of life that can only be perfected through hard work, dedication and a large bank balance. Its all about adopting the substance as well as the style, being an individual whilst still staying true to the most important of Dandy rules and above and beyond everything else, being a dedicated follower of fashion.
