Sister Sister

The EVOQUE Sketch Contest winners, Vanessa and Sarah of Nellé Nellé, broke from their studies in Germany (design, of course) to work on their winning sketch lascive et léger and make it ready for the final runway of the EVOQUE Style Awards in Berlin on 7th October.

Before they flew home, we managed to catch up with them on a rooftop terrace in London to talk about their time in the city and find out what they really thought about taking their own design from sketch to reality.

Fondly referred to as “the girls” by our studio team, they’ve loved their time in London but aren’t afraid to admit that: “although we love London, we much prefer Spain.” They look up at the vast grey sky as if to say that our weather isn’t up to much – they have a point.

In between bits of sightseeing, they found themselves being drawn back to Brick Lane, hunting down unique fashion and uncovering hidden gems. The girls are happy that they’ve found time to explore and make the most of their second trip to the capital. Perfectly at home in the city and with a cool, irreverent style, it’s no wonder that their label was a perfect match for our urban design brief.

Simone, Production Manager at LOOKK, said “they were complete perfectionists when it came to their design”.

Vanessa and Sarah themselves admitted to having learnt invaluable lessons in terms of pattern cutting. As well as this, Nellé Nellé the label, has had its first taste of fashion promotion. The girls sent over 1000 emails garnering support for their sketch and although it was completely worthwhile, they readily admit that it was hard work.

With model looks and an easy attitude, they have a bright future ahead. Who knows, perhaps we’ve just met the next Mulleavy sisters in the making. Time will tell. For now, they’re looking forward to enjoying the final awards show with their friends and family, on us.
